Mark Yakabuski, brother of long-time D1 Laurysen Kitchens player Matt Yakabuski, was seriously injured last week. The website Yakstrong was created to help support Mark’s road to recovery. The following is from the website’s About Us page:

We are raising funds for the Yakabuski family as they go through this difficult time. Mark was involved in a freak accident on a golf course that resulted in a serious spinal injury. The recovery process is a long one and it will require a significant financial commitment to get the care Mark needs.

We have designed a t-shirt that reflects Mark’s passion for the game of hockey; both as a player and a coach. Spread the word: tweet, retweet, like, share, text, snap – just get the word out.

The generosity and support shown by the community has been amazing. If you want to get in touch with us please do so at: Click to view e-mail

Much love,

– The #yakstrong Team

The Yakabuski’s are part of the CRHL family, let’s show them the support that the hockey community is known for.

I am a timekeeper at CRHL and want Matt, Mark and their families to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as Mark goes through his recovery.

I will be more than happy to donate one of my night’s pay to help with all the expenses his family is going to face.

I am not good with computers but will get one of my sons to help me forward this to my Facebook page and get my family and friends to both pass it on and to donate to this fund.

Take care and God’s speed with your recovery Mark.

Matt if you need anything, please let me know.

My heart goes out to you all.

    Claudette Bower
    CRHL Timekeeper.
